Part of the MC LAN Proxy help pages
Short answer. Minecraft 26.60 finds LAN games a new way (NetherNet) and, in our tests, no longer lists games that only answer the old way (RakNet). An app or server that answers only the old way simply does not appear. MC LAN Proxy 6.1 and newer answers both. Update the app and your server shows up again.
Minecraft Bedrock has always found LAN games with a protocol called
RakNet. The client broadcast a small question on UDP port
19132, and any device on the network could answer it. That is the
only trick a LAN-list app needs, and it is the one 26.60 is retiring.
The replacement is NetherNet, which asks on UDP port
7551 and uses encrypted messages, with WebRTC underneath for the
connection itself. Minecraft 26.50 was the first version to speak it. The two
ran side by side for a while.
What we measured, on 27 September 2026: a 26.60 client showed no entry
discovered the old way, and when pointed straight at port 19132 it
sent nothing there at all. On a public server that answers the old method in
milliseconds, it sat on "Finding server" and never moved on. Minecraft 26.60 is
due on 27 October 2026.
Everything that makes a remote server appear in a console's LAN list works by answering that RakNet question. Nothing changed on the server and nothing is wrong with your network. The client stopped asking the question those tools listen for.
This is a description of what we observed on one client, not a statement about every platform. We have confirmed NetherNet discovery and joining on Minecraft for Windows and on a Bedrock client. We have not yet confirmed it on a console.
The full checklist and the NetherNet section on the main help page go through each step in more detail.
No. LAN games are still found, but through NetherNet and not through the old RakNet question on port 19132.
Any app that makes a server appear in the LAN list by answering only the old RakNet question. We checked a number of them on 3 October 2026: some already carry NetherNet code and some show no sign of it. We have not tested any of them against a 26.60 client, so we are not going to say which will work.
A Switch does not look for LAN games at all. See Minecraft servers on Nintendo Switch.
