This app used to be called MineProxyDroid. If you followed
an old link or forum post, the app you are looking for is now
MC LAN Proxy — same app, same developer.
Samsung is the strictest of the mainstream Android brands about closing apps
in the background, and it is the most common reason a Galaxy phone drops a
Minecraft session after a few minutes.
There are three separate settings, and changing only one is
why people report that they already turned battery optimisation off and still get
disconnected. Do all three.
On the free version, check the session limit first. A free
session lasts 12 minutes and then stops on purpose, which looks identical to
the problem this page is about. The
main help page covers how to tell them apart.
Step 1 — Remove it from battery optimisation
Open Settings → Apps
Tap the ⋮ menu in the top right corner
Tap Special access
Tap Optimise battery usage
Change the dropdown at the top from Apps not optimised to
All apps
Find MC LAN Proxy and turn its switch off
Step 2 — Stop it being put to sleep
Open Settings → Battery On older phones this is Device care or
Battery and device care.
Tap Background usage limits
Check Sleeping apps and Deep sleeping
apps — if MC LAN Proxy is in either list, remove it
Turn offPut unused apps to sleep
That last switch is the one everybody misses. While it is
on, Samsung puts apps back to sleep after a few days of not opening them —
three days by default — even ones you woke up by hand. That is why the app can
work perfectly for a week and then start dropping again for no apparent
reason.
Step 3 — Allow unrestricted battery use
Open Settings → Apps and tap
MC LAN Proxy
Tap Battery
Choose Unrestricted
Some versions of the app show a warning card on the main screen
with an Open settings button that jumps straight to this screen.
If your copy has it, use it. If it is not there, your version does not include it
yet — the steps above do the same job by hand, and steps 1 and 2 have to be done
that way regardless.
If it still drops
Turn off Power saving mode while you play:
Settings → Battery → Power saving.
Turn off scheduled optimisation. Anything that optimises
the phone automatically — Auto optimise daily on older Device care
menus, or the automation options under
Settings → Battery — will otherwise undo the settings
above overnight.
Check Adaptive battery under
Settings → Battery → Background usage limits and turn
it off.
Check notifications are allowed. On Android 13 and newer,
blocking notifications also hides the ongoing "proxy running" notification,
which is part of what keeps the app alive.
Older Galaxy models (S8, S9, S10 and similar)
These use the older Device care menus, where the equivalent settings live in
different places.
Galaxy S8
Settings → Device maintenance → Battery
Scroll to Unmonitored apps
Tap the ⋮ menu and add MC LAN Proxy to the list
Or switch App power monitor off altogether
Also make sure Edge lighting is not enabled for the app.
Galaxy S9 and S10
Open Device care from Settings
Tap Battery
Tap the ⋮ menu and open Settings
Disable every toggle except notifications
Open Sleeping apps and wake them all with the bin
icon
Make sure Put unused apps to sleep and Auto-disable unused
apps are both off
Sessions still ending? If all of the above is done and it
still drops, the cause may not be the battery manager at all. The
main help page covers the other possibilities — weak
Wi-Fi where the phone is sitting, a server that has gone down, and router
settings that block devices from seeing each other.
